Exquisite 1950s cream wedding gown embellished with crystals and embroidery

This is a stunning couture silk wedding gown from the 1950s embellished with crystals and embroidery. Unfortunately this dress is unfinished and has no label but is bedecked with a beaded design very reminiscent of 1950s 'designer to the stars' Pierre Balmain's work (see last three images)

Originating in Paris, the dress has certainly been created to haute couture standard, with excellent construction and hand-finished seam allowances, if a wiggle skirt was added in similar silk fabric or perhaps a silk chiffon gathered skirt, it would make a particularly spectacular vintage wedding dress. The crystals sparkle so vibrantly and the embroidery has been added by hand after construction. The bodice is boned lined with cream silk and fitted into the waist. From the waist the delicate embroidered silk skirt, which falls away in luxurious folds. This is a beautiful garment, perfect to team with a capelet or a stole. The garment is unworn. dress is an unfinished sample from a gifted couture fashion house of the 50s.

Very good unfinished and unworn condition, but with some beads missing. These could probably be matched and replaced if required or removed from the other side to make it symmetrical.

Bust: 32.5"
Waist: 24"
Hips: free
Length: 46."

There are generous seam allowances up to 1" in some places, with several seams to bodice allowing for a gain of several inches in any one place. This magnificent gown could be re-constructed to create a sophisticated wedding dress without adding new fabric, and could be altered to fit a curvier woman. The fabric and embroidery is outstanding.
